Princess Merit Amon is the fourth daughter of King Ramses II and his wife Queen Nefertari, and she became the queen after the death of her mother, where her father, King Ramses II married her, and she held the title of royal wife, as she was a priestess of the goddess Hathor, and undertook the rituals of her, and her name came Merit Amun, meaning the beloved of Amun
 The statue of Mert Amun or the bride, as the people of Akhmim call her, her statue is one of the most beautiful statues of her ancient Egyptian body, the visitor can only look at her charm and pharaonic beauty, where he finds her most beautiful decoration inside her Pharaonic temple, surrounded by priests, and everyone dubs her with my mistress.

 The statue, which was discovered in 1981 in the city of Akhmim, near the Kom area below the ancient tombs, during excavation to build a religious institute, where the statue of the princess was discovered next to it, another small statue of her, the remains of a huge destroyed statue of her father, Ramses II, and another small-sized, as well as a statue of the god Venus.  Goddess of Love and Beauty ”, some columns, the remains of the walls of an ancient temple, and four wells with water, dating back to the Roman era, and the place was declared an archaeological area.

 The princess statue is made of limestone, and it is 13 meters high and weighs 31 tons. The statue is the most beautiful of what was issued in the Ramesside era.  Amira Muhammad, a professor of archeology in Sohag, described the statue, saying, “It shows the wig knotted in three braids of gradient length, blue in color. It is held by a double band that ends with two snakes, each wearing a crown. They symbolize the sea and tribal faces, and the head of Merit Amun is surmounted by a round base surrounded by a frame of  Snakes crowned with sun disks, resting on them a drawing of the sun disk and two feathers above .
